Your Questions About Remedies For Heartburn

Lisa asks…

Does anyone know about herbal remedies for heartburn?

I am trying to get an entire scholarly article not just an abstract about this topic. Anyone have a suggestion?

Wendy answers:

Funny, I just answered this….
So here ya go….

You might want to use the search term “reflux esophagitis” (the medical term for “heartburn”) and the name of the herb you are seeking – nah, you can’t do a search to see which herbs they have researched, you have to do a search by herb….

But try “complementary” just for the sake of posterity – some interesting things come up…
You might also try google scholar – if you dont know it, google it….

And try ginger, licorice and aloe as search terms – those are herbs, and you will need to find the latin names for them…
Also, you will most likely turn up more if you expand your terms to include reflux disease
I went to college for 12 years, I’m not doing my homework anymore, I’ll be darned if I’m doing anyone else now either 😉

Good Luck

Thomas asks…

Heartburn during pregnancy remedies?

I’m 36 weeks along now and the heartburn is crazy! I take tums like candy, they only work for a little while though. I’ve tried drinking milk with them, which I heard was supposed to help, but again, it only lasts a short while. Is it safe to take baking soda and water during pregnancy?

Also, any other heartburn remedies you know of, I’m all ears. 🙂

Wendy answers:

My doc said I can take Rolaid tablets. Tums don’t do anything for me… Rolaids work wonders! I take them for nausia, and other tummy pains like indigestion too!!

Hope this helps! Everyone’s different! I’d take everyone’s advice and try it once!!
